Gerald Stanley, the man charged with second-degree murder in the farmyard shooting death of Colten Boushie, is scheduled to appear in North Battleford provincial court Monday for a preliminary hearing.
Preliminary hearings are held to determine if there is enough evidence to go to trial. Matters discussed during such hearings are subject to a publication ban.

The charges against Stanley date back to Aug. 9, 2016 when 22-year-old Boushie and his friends, who had been enjoying an afternoon of swimming, got a flat tire on their way home to Red Pheasant First Nation and drove onto Stanley’s farm in the RM of Glenside looking for help. There was a confrontation and Boushie ended up dead.
